Crews from Newport, Templemore and Nenagh attended the scene near wooded hilly ground between Newport and Silvermines from around quarter to six yesterday evening.
The smoke could be seen from the M7 motorway.

The fire-fighters spent a number of hours dampening down the area before leaving the scene shortly before 11pm
