A Tipperary Councillor is claiming that all Council grants are being frozen by Environment Minister Phil Hogan.

Councillor Rocky McGrath says this decision will have a serious impact across all sectors of society.

While funds are frozen, new applications are not being processed either and people who have been approved for grants will not be funded.

This alleged payment freeze will particularly affect vulnerable elderly people who need housing adaptation or mobility aid grants, according to Councillor McGrath.

Meanwhile, drainage works at Kilmastulla, Ballywilliam are also being held up by this action, even though the work has been approved by the Department.
