The repairs to the bridge in Ardfinnan are said to cost between half and three quarters of a million Euro but Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe says the costs will have to be met by Tipperary County Council.

This means work will not be starting any time soon as the local authority does not have such funding available.

A traffic light system has been in place on the bridge since the damage was discovered seven months ago.

Chairman of the Ardfinnan Community Council Thomas O'Mahoney says locals are concerned at just how bad the damage is.
