No major charges for those on multiple connections

Water meters have been installed in around 700,000 homes nationwide – however up to another 700,000 can't be as they are not on a single connection.

It's led to concern that people may be charged astronomical fees to have the supply fed directly to their own home.

Cahir Independent Councillor Andy Maloney says he's received assurances that there's no such plan at the moment

However he fears that while set charges are in place now – Irish water is just kicking the can down the road.
