In late July the Queally Group announced that they were to close the Dawn Fresh Foods plant in Fethard.
The news came as a blow to the local community as the majority of the 104 people working there were from the town and its hinterland.
The closure was put down to a declining market, unfavourable currency exchange rates and increasing costs of raw materials, energy and transport.
The factory on the Killenaule road closed completely last October.
This morning in the Dail, Deputy Mattie McGrath raised the issue of a promised task force during priority questions
However Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise Sean Sherlock said that he could not confirm that a task-force has been set up to try and bring a new employer to the area.
The Junior Minister told the house that efforts were ongoing to secure a replacement industry for the area by the various agencies concerned.
At the time of the announcement seven workers from Dawn Fresh Foods travelled to Dublin to meet with Jobs Minister Richard Bruton and officials from Enterprise Ireland to drive home the devastating impact that the closure would have on the town.
Then Mayor of Carrick Kieran Bourke had asked for all local politicians to put their differences aside and see what could be done to either save the existing jobs or find an alternative employer for the plant.
However as nothing has happened he says local interested groups and individuals are determined to take matters into their own hands and form a local task force.
