Newport Day Care staff ballot for Industrial action

Staff at Newport Day Care Centre are preparing to ballot for industrial action.

The facility – which provides community, health and respite services in Newport and surrounding areas – took severe pay cuts in 2008 during the recession..

A decade later, staff have had no pay restorations, despite the cuts being imposed without agreement from the HSE.

Senator Paul Gavan raised the issue to the Minister for Health, imploring Simon Harris to agree to the implementation of pay restorations for the workers.
