The property in the Glen of Aherlow closed last week leaving dozens of couples who had booked weddings there in limbo…while 47 staff were also let go.
It's been confirmed the property has been bought by Dublin hotelier Adrian Shanagher.
The sale of Aherlow House Hotel secures the 47 jobs there as well as ensuring the availability of the venue to wedding couples who had booked receptions there.
The hotel in the scenic Glen of Aherlow had closed last week – the 40 or so couples who had paid deposits to the previous operator had feared they would lose their money and also have to find a new location for their wedding receptions.
However Receiver Grant Thornton say the new owner – Adrian Shanagher – will honour all of the bookings and will offer couples full credit for any deposits they lost with the previous operator Auburn Hotels Aherlow Ltd.
Mr Shanagher – an experienced Dublin based hotel operator – is expected to immediately begin an investment and refurbishment programme at the property and plans to reopen on the 3rd of March.
The new owners now plan to contact former employees and all those who have weddings booked directly as soon as possible. In the interim wedding couples can contact [email protected]
