Alternative accommodation arrangements have been made for the Reserve Defence Forces in Clonmel.

South Tipperary Deputy Tom Hayes has welcomed the news given the confusion amongst many RDF personnel as to their future location following the closure of Kickham Barracks.

While accepting that he would have preferred if the Defence Forces hadn’t been moved anywhere, the Fine Gael T.D says reality is that a new home had to be found for the RDF.

He is still awaiting the exact details of the location involved but he has been assured by Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Jimmy Deenihan that alternative accommodation has been identified and that the necessary documentation has been requested from the owners of the properties.
