Nenagh Superintendent confident CCTV will deter criminals

Superintendent Bob Noonan was speaking at the official launch of the high tech closed circuit TV system in the North Tipp Town.

16 cameras have been strategically placed on a number of the main streets in a bid to curb crime and anti social behaviour.

The system- which was officially launched yesterday is then monitored by officers at Nenagh Garda Station. 

Speaking to Tipp Fm Superintendent Noonan says it’s already proved successful in solving a number of serious assaults. 

Funding for the project was provided by the old Nenagh Town Council, Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District Ger Darcy has paid tribute to their work in driving the project forward. 

The system on Nenagh's main streets could be expanded further if other parts of the town require increased policing.
