Jack Looney was walking his dog in the town ten days ago on Friday October 10th when he was set upon by a number of youths at Andy Bourke's Corner at 4 in the afternoon.
He suffered multiple kicks to the head and body before the gang fled and required hospital treatment.
Speaking on Tipp Today – Jack's brother Donal says he was horrified over the viciousness of the attack
Local councillor and friend of the family Seamie Morris is urging anyone who knows something to come forward…he has described the attackers as 'nothing short of an animal'.
Gardaí are now investigating the case and are urging anyone with information on the incident to contact them on 067-31333 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
