During his visit the Minister instructed his officials to ensure the project is completed in time for the President's visit while a commitment was given by the Director of Services Marcus O’Connor and Nenagh Town Clerk Donal Purcell to finalise external works around the historic building by June.

Deputy Noel Coonan has also praised the commitment of Ormond Historical Society to the project.

The Fine Gael Deputy says the Castle will be an enormous attraction for visitors especially when taken in conjunction with Nenagh Arts Centre, the Courthouse, Nenagh Jail and nearby churches.
