Motorists are being urged to avoid the N24 between Clonmel and Carrick this afternoon due a triathlon on the route.

The Carrick on Suir Triathlon Club is celebrating its 25th anniversary with over 250 people from across Tipperary taking part in the event which involves a 750 metre swim, followed by a cycle race up to Kilsheelan and back and then a 2.5 k run along the Blueway to the finish.

Its taking place between 1 and 2.30 this afternoon between Carrick and Clonmel and organiser Garry McCarthy is urging other road users to be patient or use an alternative route if possible.
