Diane Ward was arraigned this morning on a charge of murdering her 8 year old son Anthony at Harrison's Place in Charleville on September 3rd, 2012.

She replied not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter.

He was her only son.

Prosecution barrister Timothy O'Leary told the court that her plea was acceptable to the DPP.

He said psychiatric evidence will be required for her sentencing hearing on this day week.

There is an issue here of diminished responsibility.

At the time of Anthony Ward's death, the autopsy results concluded that he'd been suffocated.

The 8 year old was discovered at his home by a relative on the day he had been due to start a new term at school.

Diane Ward was arrested and charged days after his death.
