A delegation is set to travel to the US tomorrow including five councillors and one official from the local authority, to take part in 1916 commemorations in Washington.

There has been some criticism of the number of elected members on the trip, however, the Council is only covering the cost of the flights with all other expenses to be paid for by the members.

Former Mayor of Nenagh, Sinn Fein's Seamie Morris says he was on a similar trip in 2005 which has resulted in huge benefits for the area.

Councillor Morris says we have no choice but to get out there and attract tourists into the area.
