Money owed to Tipperary local authorities may be chased by Revenue.

It's reported the Revenue Commissioners could be brought in to chase monies owed to local authorities across the country including County Tipperary.

North Tipperary is owed over €3.8 million in unpaid rents, housing loans and water charges.

According to a report in today's Irish Independent figures were not available for South Tipperary County Council.

The North Tipp figure of €3.82 million also includes unpaid development levies.

Environment Minister Phil Hogan is to introduce legislation which would allow the Revenue Commissioners to collect the €770 million owed to local authorities across the country.
