Thousands lined the streets of Clonmel this luchtime in sunny conditions for the event which marked the end of 350 years of a military presence in the town.
The 12th Infantry Battalion has completed its final official ceremony at Kickham Barracks.
Most of the soldiers will transfer to Limerick, Kilkenny and Cork while a significant number retired rather than face relocating or commuting.
