Minister Kelly says landlords should not hike rents ahead of new legislation

It's understood that under the new rules, landlords will only be able to increase rent every 24 months – instead of every 12 at present.

Charities are worried that landlords may now increase rents immediately – but the Minister says that shouldn't be a problem as reviews are carried out on a certain date and landlords can’t choose to gazump those.

Minister Kelly says tenants who find themselves in this situation should contact the PTRB
