Cashel-based Tom Hayes, a junior minister at the Department of Agriculture was one of 10 Oireachtas members who missed the late deadline of February 9th to file declarations on donations to the Standards in Public Office Commission.

While 8 of the others subsequently filed in the following days – submissions from Minister Hayes along with Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett were still outstanding by February 19th and at this point SIPO refered both cases to the gardai for possible prosecution.

However both deputies submitted the documentation on 23 February 2015 and the Gardaí was informed accordingly.

Speaking to Tipp Fm Minister Tom Hayes said the deadline of February 9th was missed due to a clerical error but that all his documentation is now up to date and he is fully compliant.

Minister Hayes added he believes the matter is now closed.

Politicians disclosed a total of 25,500 euro in donations last year with the  Enviroment Minister and Tipperary Labour TD Alan Kelly among them. The Portroe native disclosed donations of €3000.
