Minister Alan Kelly doesn’t rule out Irish Water Privatisation referendum

Tipperary's Alan Kelly was responding to a Fianna Fail motion on the issue which was passed in the Seanad after Labour party members voted against government.

Addressing the Upper House Minister Kelly said the possibility of a referendum was something he would take to the Taoiseach and Cabinet but questioned the need for one.

The Minister also insisted that while mistakes were made surrounding Irish Water – setting up the utility was not a mistake.

Minister Kelly also ruled out fears that people would be facing bills of between €500 and €700.
