Independent TD Michael Lowry has lashed out at media and political commentary made in the wake of the Moriarty Tribunal report.

In a statement issued this afternoon, Deputy Lowry said he had not been declared corrupt by the Tribunal, but claimed that he had been 'roundly condemned as a convicted criminal by the media and political opportunists'.

He also said he does not accept the opinions of Mr Moriarty, which he said amount to 'a death sentence on his reputation'.

Mr Lowry accused Mr. Moriarty of creating 'a false impression' in his report that he had been  the net beneficiary of about 900 thousand euro, arising from two property transactions and a loan agreement – but he said this was not a 'truthful or accurate presentation of the facts.'
