The 24 year old from Ballinderry was shot dead by Bolivian Police amid allegations he was part of a plot to assassinate the country’s President Evo Morales.

However many have raised questions about the way in which Michael Dwyer died with evidence that he was unarmed and asleep in his hotel room at the time of the attack.

Speaking in Strasbourg last night Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly called for every effort to be made to secure a proper independent inquiry, highlighting the fact that the EU sends €234 million in aid to the Bolivian authorities.
