UCC student Grainne O'Donnell from Cahir passed away in hospital on Thursday after contracting meningitis.
Tributes have been flowing in on Facebook while several sporting events including Cahir's U21 football match against Ballingarry and Clanwilliam's rugby clash this weekend have been postponed as a mark of respect.
In a statement University College Cork offered its sincere condolences to the bereaved family, friends, classmates and staff in the school.
They added that information and advice on meningitis has been distributed to all students.
The 20-year-old is reposing at her home tomorrow from 3 until 7 and will be laid to rest following 11.30 funeral mass in St Mary's Church Cahir on Sunday.
