Memorial Garden opens to-day

A memorial garden for those who have lost their lives on the roads
near Ballinonty, will be officially opened today.

Since the 1960's, there have been 24 road deaths in the 4 kilometre
stretch of of road, linking Ballynonty with neighbouring communities.

The people of Ballynonty also had the help of Diarmuid Gavin,
in creating their garden.

Local woman Teresa McGarry, lost her son Johnny, who was killed

near the bridge in Ballynonty on Halloween night  in 1999,

says the garden is a way to honour their loved ones.
