The Master of the National Maternity Hospital has spoken of the 'medical roulette' being faced by doctors dealing with cases covered by the 8th amendment.
Rhona Mahony's cited the example of a woman whose waters break 14 weeks into pregnancy.

She says there's a tiny chance of the baby surviving, while the mother is at risk of severe infection.
