Over 70 people are being cared for on trolleys or overflow areas of wards in hospitals serving Tipperary today.
Nationally the number of people without a hospital bed is in excess of 400.
Latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show frontline staff are under severe pressure due to overcrowding at University Hospital Limerick and South Tipp General Hospital.
UHL is the busiest hospital in the country today with 54 patients without a bed 39 of these are on trolleys or chairs around the Emergency Department while there are 15 patients being cared for in overflow areas of wards.
The Dooradoyle hospital was already under pressure yesterday when there were 30 patients without a bed.
Meanwhile there's been a slight increase in the overcrowding problems at South Tipp General today where there are 22 patients without a bed – up from 20 yesterday.
Nationally the number of patients without a bed today has risen by nearly 100 on yesterday’s figures – up from 333 on Monday to 430.
Among the busiest hospitals today are Cork University Hospital with 45 people waiting for a bed while there are 35 at University Hospital Galway
