The majority of members of Tipperary County Council last evening voted to adopt the local authority budget for the year ahead.
While there were heated exchanges at times a general consensus was agreed after almost seven hours of debate between elected representatives and council officials.

One of the main stumbling blocks was the harmonisation of commercial rates across the county.
Council CEO Joe McGrath had proposed a change over 2 years but a compromise of spreading it over 4 was eventually agreed.
