A 27 year old man who made pornographic videos of his profoundly disabled 6 year old nephew in Tipperary has been jailed for 8 years.
He had pleaded guilty to recording his own brother raping and sexually abusing his own son over a two year period.
The abuse and pornography were discovered after an international investigation into child pornography which involved police forces in Australia and New Zealand as well as Europol and Interpol.
Gardaí and the HSE raided the accused brother's home in Tipperary in March last year where they found computer equipment as well as at an industrial unit used by his brother – that contained 12,000 image files and 68 video files of child pornography.
Clonmel Circuit Court heard that the 27 year old's brother was the main offender in this case – He has already been dealt with in the Central Criminal Court, where he received a 20-year sentence for rape.
The accused – who didn't take part in the abuse on his profoundly disabled nephew – pleaded guilty to four count of producing child pornography in 2014 and 2015.
Judge Thomas Teehan imposed a 10-year prison term on each of the four counts, to run concurrently, suspending the last two years in light of the accused’s guilty plea and co-operation with gardaí.
