Mountain rescue teams were called to the aid of a man who suffered an injury while walking on the Galtee's yesterday afternoon.
The Coast Guard Helicopter from Waterford was called to assist by was unable to take the man off the mountain.
The man was part of a walking group who were out on the Galtee Mountains west of Cahir yesterday afternoon.
He suffered a lower leg injury and was unable to walk off the mountain.
The South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association called in the Coast Guard Helicopter from Waterford to assist – however when Rescue 117 arrived at the scene it was unable to airlift the man because of the accident location.
Instead the man was stretchered down the mountain by SEMRA members to one of their 4×4's and taken to an ambulance on the Cahir – Mitchelstown road which brought him to hospital.
This was the voluntary groups 26th rescue operation this year, compared with 18 for all of last year.
