Cashel District court has issued a fine to a man who over stayed his visa.

Muhammed Sagheer, came to Cahir Garda station in January to report the loss of his passport, he produced a photo copy of the document which was found to be out of date.

Further enquiries by the Immigration Department found him to be in the country illegally and issued a deportation order.

That is now on hold as Mr Sagheer applies for asylum.

Judge Terence Finn fined him 200 euro for the offence and acknowledged Mr Sagheer's admission that he made a genuine mistake.
