A man is due before a special sitting of Thurles District court today, in connection with an incident on Saturday night, which left a Garda injured.

At 11.30 on Saturday night, Nenagh Gardai on patrol in Kilcommon stopped a vehicle which had been reported stolen, following a burglary in Clonmel.

As the Garda went to speak with the driver he made an attempt to drive away,

The car then reversed, trapping the Garda against a wall. He only escaped serious injury due to the car stalling.

The male, who is aged 51 was arrested at the scene and taken to Nenagh Garda station.

He is due to go before a special sitting of Thurles District court later this  morning, where he faces a number of charges.

The Garda received medical attention but was not seriously injured.
