The southbound lane was closed for a time to allow a forensic examination of the scene – it has now reopened to traffic.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Nenagh Gardaí.

This is the second road fatality in the Premier County this year – an 87 year old woman died in a single vehicle crash near Nenagh on New Years Day.
