It happened in Loughrea Town on the N66 road at just after half past five this morning.
The 28 year old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to Portiuncula Hospital where a post mortem will be carried out.
The 19 year old driver of the car was uninjured.
A section of the Loughrea to Galway Road is closed for a garda forensic collision investigation.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses.
