Seamus Mallon – the first Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland and former deputy leader of the SDLP – is being celebrated by the party in Dublin this evening.
It comes at a time when the institutions in the North's power sharing executive have come to a standstill.

It's one of a number of events being held this year in honour of Mr Mallon's long career – dating to the civil rights movement of the 60's.
