According to the latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation there are a total of 531 in a similar situation at hospitals across the country.
University Hospital Limerick – which provides Emergency Department cover for North Tipperary – is the most overcrowded in the country today with 61 patients being cared for on makeshift beds.

South Tipp General in Clonmel has 28 people on trolleys or in overflow areas of already full wards.
