The number of Penalty Points for motoring offences issued in County Tipperary has dropped by between 30 and 40%.
Latest figures show that nationally the number of points issued for the first six months of this year is down 8% on the same period last year.

However in North Tipp the reduction was 39% with a fall of 30% in South Tipp – the figures relate to where the offending vehicle is registered.
The sharp fall in the number of Penalty Point offences being detected is being put down by some to the reduction in the size of the Garda Traffic Corps.
