South Tipperary General Hospital is running over €2¼ million over budget for the first half of 2012.

This combined with an overspend in excess of €1 million carried over from last year means major savings are necessary for the remainder of the year at the Clonmel facility.

Its budget at the start of the year was cut by over €1¾ million.

Meanwhile the financial situation at Nenagh General Hospital is significantly better.

It was just over €100,000 over budget for the first six months of the year though its budget for 2012 was cut by over €1¼.

According to a report in today’s Irish Examiner, no details of the overspend carried forward from last year were released by the HSE.
