Gardai have made one of the biggest seizures of dissident republican arms and explosives following searches in South East Clare.
Several hundred rounds of ammunition, hand guns and explosive devices were uncovered in a wooded area near Meelick on Friday but details were only released by officers last night.

The haul also included bomb making components such as timers and detonators, along with CS gas containers and balaclavas.
The searches were all part of an investigation into dissident republicans based in Limerick.
Forensic examinations are now being carried out on all of the arms seized.
No arrests have been made – and Gardaí say their investigation is continuing.
