According to the Irish Independent, the Holycross native was told that there was a three week backlog at the office, so he didn't place the order.

The latest controversy over the use of printers in Leinster House was sparked when Renua's Lucinda Creighton complained she could not get newsletters printed…she said that one TD had ordered 85 thousand cards….this was denied by officials.

A spokesperson for the Oireachtas said that while they received an inquiry from an individual about producing that number of cards, the request was turned down.

Michael Lowry has said somebody is “causing mischief” after rumours began to circulate yesterday that he had placed the massive order.

The Tipperary representative says his cards were designed and printed locally and distributed by a company from the Premier County.

He also told Tipp FM News that there was no cost incurred by the Oireachtas or the State.
