The Clonmel Mayor is calling for the urgent repair of a local historic monument.
The statue outside the town hall memorialises the heroes of the 1798 rebellion.

It was erected over 100 years ago and has since suffered environmental damage.
Independent Cllr Pat English is calling for the monument to be revamped:
Well, the monument was erected by local Republicans here in town to commemorate the rebellion, which occurred in this area, and it’s there since then. It’s stood time well, but it’s in poor repair at the moment now, and we’re looking for funding to get it repaired and that it’s there for next generation.
