The number of people signing on the Live Register in Tipperary has increased by 120% since the height of the Celtic Tiger era.
Latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show there were just over 13 thousand people claiming some form of social welfare benefit in the county last month.
The number of people claiming some form of unemployment benefit in the Premier County has increased dramatically over the last decade.
In August of 2006, there were over 5 thousand 900 people signing on in Tipperary…last month, this figure stood at over 13 thousand.
Despite this, the numbers are continuing to fall on a monthly basis this year….between July and August 146 people left the Live Register…the highest fall was in Thurles where the figure fell by 43.
Roscrea was the only place in Tipperary where the numbers increased…by one on July.
Year on year, the number of unemployed people is down nearly 1,400 in Tipperary.
New figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) also show there are fewer women out of work than men.
