Under the plan the existing structure will be demolished to make way for a larger two storey premises.

The development will consist of an increased shop floor area, bakery, public facilities, storage, stairs and a plant room along with staff facilities.

It also includes the reconfiguration of the existing car park to facilitate over 150 spaces – including those for bicycles, disabled and parent and child designated spots while access to the development will be maintained from the existing site entrance from Davis Road.

Lidl lodged plans with Tipperary County Council at the start of September and the local authority has now given the revamp the green light so work is expected to get underway within months.
