Research by St. Michael's House, which provides community based services for children and adults with an intellectual disability, has found that one in ten parents never read to their children.
That's despite 84 percent of adults saying they see reading with their children as both a bonding and educational experience.

St. Michael's House is encouraging parents to make time to read with their children during World Book Week next month.
The charity's holding it's annual 'Bring A Book, Buy A Book' fundraising campaign, where schools, businesses and communities donate their second hand books which are then sold for €2 each.
