LE Niamh involved in another rescue operation

They saved the migrants from a wooden barge off the coast of Libya, while also helping to rescue another 700 from a fishing boat.

They're now sailing for Trapani in Italy with 551 migrants on board and they're expected to arrive at the Sicilian port this afternoon.

It brings to almost 2,500 the number of people rescued by the LÉ Niamh over the past few months.
