21-year-old Olivia Burke was one of six students killed in the tragedy last week.
Her remains are being accompanied by her family – it follows a joint funeral with her 22 year-old cousin Ashley which was held in the US on Saturday.
At Olivia Burke and Ashley Donohoe’s joint funeral – Cork-born priest Monsignor Daniel Whelton told mourners that the two girls were like twins; who were together in life and are together in death.
22-year-old Ashley was laid to rest in California – while Olivia Burke’s remains will arrive home in Dublin from a San Francisco shortly before noon.
The four other bodies to be repatriated – those of Eimear Walsh, Lorcan Miller, Niccolai Schuster and Eoghan Culligan returned to Ireland yesterday.
The first of the funerals for the victims will take place tomorrow – and the families have thanked the Irish public for their support and have appealed for privacy so they can mourn the sudden and tragic deaths of their loved ones with the dignity they deserved.
The seven others who were inured in the incident – remain in hospital in the US.
