An estimated 130 people packed into Hearn's hotel calling on management at the financial institution to hold a meeting of members to discuss the proposed tie up.

Some members were staunchly against the merger while others expressed concern over the lack of consultation with locals, many of whom have been with CCU for over 20 years.
