The Cashel Palace Hotel has been bought by Coolmore Stud for 2 and a quarter million euro.

The closure of the landmark property in December of 2014 dealt a major blow to the town with the loss of 32 full and part time jobs.

The Queen Anne style house, which was built in the 17 hundreds, is set on 28 acres of grounds, which surround the Rock of Cashel.

Local Independent County Councillor Tom Wood says the news that the hotel has been bought is a huge boost to the community.
