Kildare crash victims named.

The names have now been released of the four young women killed in a road crash in Co. Kildare last night.

19 year old Aisling Middleton from Athy, 20 year old Chermain Carroll from Carlow, and 19 year olds Gemma Nolan and Niamh Doyle also from Carlow all died when the car they were passengers in collided with a van near Athy just before 10pm.

All four women have been described as 'lifelong friends'.

Another friend who was driving the car is being treated for injuries in hospital as are the 2 men who were travelling in the van.

The N78 at Burtown is likely to remain closed for the remainder of the day as gardai continue to examine the scene.
