Khan wants commissioners to take over Kensington and Chelsea Borough Council

London’s mayor wants commissioners to take over the running of Kensington and Chelsea Borough Council following the Grenfell Tower fire.

Sadiq Khan has welcomed the resignation of the authority’s boss, but says only “new leadership” can “restore the confidence in that community”.

Nicholas Paget-Brown says he stepped down over “perceived failings” in its response to the disaster.

Volunteer Bhupinder Singh says whoever takes over must be “professional and capable”.
