The Justice Minister believes there is a high level of public confidence in Tipperary’s gardaí despite the breath test controversy and serious financial irregularities at the Garda College.

Charlie Flanagan was speaking to Tipp FM news during a visit to Clonmel Garda Station yesterday to praise the community policing initiatives introduced by Superintendent William Leahy and his senior colleagues.

A recent report found Tipperary had the highest level of false breath tests in the country and this comes just months after the controversy surrounding accounts at the Garda College in Templemore

Minister Flanagan admits it’s been a dark chapter for the force but is confident that reforms will ensure no repeat of it
