Judge to view Rising Buildings

Numbers 14 to 17 are the last buildings where the leaders of the 1916 Rising gathered before their surrender, and have been designated national monuments.

To mark the centenary of the Rising, the Government is planning to build a commemorative centre which would involve the demolition of surrounding buildings.

The 1916 Relatives Association believes these should also be protected, but the Minister for Arts, Heritage & the Gaeltacht claims they’ve no historical significance.
